Hearing about the name of Jeep, people will imagine the type of strong and big car. Jeep is an American car brand that has the head office in 1941 in Toledo, Ohio, USA. The “extreme shape” still make people want to have it. The made of Jeep starting from World War II, the US Army needed a light spy vehicle that could be used for Ford car Model T in July 1940. The specification of this car must have a carrying capacity of 272 kilograms, ground clearance less than 914 millimeters, with 3 seats, a windshield can be folded and weighs 590 kilograms with the four-wheel drive system. Therefore, it rose the idea of making this Jeep. From the 135 automotive factories offered, only 3 companies gave the response, Bantam, Willys and Ford.

According to Forbes magazine, the Jeep prototype was first developed by American Bantam Car Company from Butler and completed by AD at Camp Holabird, Baltimore on September 23, 1940. Then Willys Overland (1941) presented the prototype “Quad” (the name for a 4×4 system that became the special identity) to the US Army. Amazingly, the process was completed in 75 days. The name Jeep was common on trucks in the Republic of Oklahoma in early 1934. Some people said the name Jeep comes from the abbreviation GP (General Purpose).
