The History of Dodge Car Manufacturer

The year 1914 was the beginning existence of Dodge car’s company. The founders were two brothers, John and Horace Dodge, who were talented technicians and also the ambitious businessmen. The company rose from zero and it’s beginning of the small company became a giant company in the early automotive industry in America. In 1901, after several years of the production of piecework components for the automotive industry in the beginning level, the two brothers established a machine shop in Detroit and began to produce various transmissions for the Olds component.

John and Horace Dodge

For one year focusing on that job, they finally agreed to produce a machine for Henry Ford, and they stopped making components for Olds. Then, they accepted an offer from Ford and got 10% of the company’s shares. Getting the success quickly, by using the ability of two Dodge brothers, Ford’s company finally became one of the largest automotive companies in the world. However, they argue with the owner of Henry Ford’s company because of financial conditions and finally decided to break the relation. It made them frustrated for 12 years.

In 1914, the brothers finally began to build a new company which was given a name as Dodge Brother, Inc. This company was capitalized with 5 million US dollars in common stock and started building the own vehicles. The company was finally able to create the first car product named Touring. In 1915, more than 45,000 units of Dodge cars were produced and sold with the good sales records in the first year for the car industry. Then, Dodge 250, the second production of this company was produced and obtained a good value in the border community of Mexico in 1916. It made the company’s reputation continue to increase.

Until 1920, this company rises the success by becoming the second best-selling company in the sales in America. By having the good reputation of their fast-established and high-value of production, the Dodge brothers began using the word “independent” in the advertisement of the products. Lots of people were interested to buy it so that in 1925, the car sales reached up to one million units of Dodge cars.

With the passenger car, they finally gained recognition in America about the durability and using the value of the car products of this company. During 1917, the Dodge Company began to produce commercial cars including military ambulances and business trucks, freight trucks, fire trucks, pick-up cars, taxis and other models. In 1920, John Dodge passed away in early January.

In 1921, the company entered the middle-class market which was marketed through Graham’s dealer company and was utilized for Dodge machines. Finally, the Dodge’s company became the company which handled spare parts for Graham’s car company. And it made Graham’s company had the best-selling sales until finally, Dodge bought Graham’s company.

In 1969, after decades of the establishment, for the first time, Dodge cars were finally made for racing cars in the NASCAR event. Using the Hemispherical-head concept in a 426-cubic-inch machine, the HEMI Changer that was used for the competition, finally proved that it was capable to generate 500 horsepower. The success of Dodge’ company in that era was indeed a great achievement in the automotive world and it also made the name of USA becoming famous for the fastest car company in the arena of prestigious NASCAR event in the 1970s. Dodge’s company reached the real success in as the car which has the great power and good quality of the production.

On 7 May 2010, as a well-known brand company, Dodge’s company changed the form with new lifestyle packages, new ads, events and new sponsorship, and launched new products coming. This company used the brand with the slogan “forever young” and encourages performance and brand in the future. Of course, there are not all of the people in the millennia era knew the Dodge car used to be a commercial car. Even these cars appeared in various kid films as a school car with the special color, yellow. The Dodge Company had achieved the great success and gained many awards from the early 1900s till this time, any kinds of types from uterine bar products are being launched.
