Shanghai, China: If compared to McLaren’s performance last season, in the Formula One championship (F1), of course, the British manufacturer’s team has experienced a fairly good improvement. Nevertheless, the McLaren driver, Fernando Alonso, is still not satisfied with what his team got now, because he believes McLaren is able to show more.

As we already know, last season McLaren used Honda’s engine. The result, McLaren exactly battered because Honda engines are often experiencing problems. This team must forget the desire to compete in the forefront, to finish the race alone the McLaren drivers have difficulty because of the frequent problems occur.

However, in the 2018 season, McLaren decided to cooperate and use the Renault engine. Until now, it’s been proven to have no problems related to the machines they use. So far, the McLaren drivers were able to finish the race to the finish line.

Nevertheless, Alonso feels that the Renault engine he uses now should be able to make him perform better. In the three series of races that have been undertaken this season, the Spaniard sequentially only able to occupy the fifth, seventh, and seventh places.

Although it is pretty good, it still does not match the target of Alonso who is eyeing the podium position. When looking at the Red Bull team that also uses Renault engine, Alonso was convinced that he and his team must do the development again in order to maximize the potential of the machine. The reason, in the third series of races, Red Bull team capable of appearing as the winner of the race, through racer, Daniel Ricciardo.

“It shows us the potential of his power unit and it gives us the motivation that with this power unit we will be able to fight if we do a good job on chassis issue. We have not quite got there yet. We have to close the distance and we have to work harder on the chassis, “said Alonso, quoting from ESPN.

“We know that we have to grow, no doubt. We can not hide it. However, at the same time we are doing our work on Sunday (Chinese GP race) and get as many points as we can for the team, “said the double F1 world champion.
