Jerez, Spain: Mercedes AMG PetronasTeam leader; Toto Wolff, tries to make a statement regarding an issue involving his driver; Valtteri Bottas. The issue is related to Bottas’ replacement in the middle of Formula One (F1) 2021.
Wolff ensures Bottas will continue to be Lewis Hamilton’s teammate, at least until F1 2021 ends. So, Wolff ensures Bottas will not be replaced with Williams racer George Russell in the middle of this season.
According to Wolff, there is no reason for Mercedes to part with Bottas this season. Unless Bottas can’t participate in the race for some reason, it is only a substitute racer that he uses.
“Yes, of course (Wolff’s answer when asked if Bottas would remain Hamilton’s team-mate throughout F1 2021). Unless he has a cold and can’t race. However, for the rest I don’t see any reason to change (the composition of the riders), “
Wolff explained, quoting from the official Formula One website.
According to various reports, the reason for Bottas’ disposal was because the Finnish racer did not deliver promising results from the first three series of races that have taken place during the 2021 season. Bottas was only able to finish in third position as his best achievement so far.
