Bologna, Italy: Ducati’s ambition to master MotoGP was being drafted. Ducati intends to field many riders in the most prestigious motorcycle racing competition starting in the 2022 season.
Ducati seems to really want to dominate the highest caste racing event. According to a report from GPOne, Ducati is likely to appear with eight riders in MotoGP 2022.
The eight riders are divided into four teams, which means that the Italian factory team intends to add two new satellite teams.
Two satellite teams that are rumored to be joining Ducati are Gresini and Valentino Rossi’s team, namely VR46.
Interestingly, Ducati is currently negotiating both with Gresini and VR46 to discuss their cooperation next year.
Of course, with the new MotoGP racing format, Ducati should only be able to add one more satellite team. Because they currently have Pramac Ducati.
However, Dorna Sports as the MotoGP promoter reportedly agreed to only agree if Gresini and VR46 agreed to collaborate with the team based in Borgo Panigale, Italy.
With the green light given by Dorna Sports, it can be said that Ducati has the potential to actually make an appearance with eight riders in MotoGP 2022. One factory team and three satellite teams consisting of Pramac, Gresini, and VR46.
So will Ducati be able to handle eight riders at once? According to the presentation of the Ducati Sports Director, namely Paolo Ciabatti, his team will be able to supervise and handle eight riders at once.
Because Ciabatti said that in the past, Ducati was used to handling four teams with a total of eight riders. At that time, Ducati had three satellite teams to be exact, namely Pramac, Aspar, and Avintia.
So, for Ciabatti running eight racers at once is not an impossible thing. Moreover, he believes that with many teams under the auspices of Ducati, the team can bring in more young riders.
“Yes, that’s right (Ciabatti’s answer when asked about the issue that Ducati would use eight riders). We are currently thinking about it. We can make the option to use eight motorbikes, ”
said Ciabatti, quoting from GPOne, Wednesday (May 19, 2021).
“We have done that (with eight riders) some time ago, apart from Pramac, we have also handled Avintia and Aspar simultaneously. So, I think we can handle it. This project allows us to have a lot of young riders at Ducati, “
he concluded.
