Are you in the market for a compact SUV? Well, maybe you need to consider the 2018 Volkswagen Tiguan as one of the cars for you to choose. Tiguan is a medium SUV from Volkswagen which sales quite well in various parts of the world. This second generation of VW Tiguan was finally launched in August 2017. Then what makes it special? Let’s get it on!

Dimension, Ergonomic, and Interior

2018 Volkswagen Tiguan has a bigger dimension than its predecessor. With bigger size than the previous version, this car will compete with expanding the dimension of compact SUV segment. Anyway, larger size means roomier interior the rest of the cabin and you will find comfortable seats, a tasteful layout and a wealth of soft high-quality materials if you dig a squishy dashboard, you will love this 7 passengers car.

In defiance of compact SUV, this car comes with a standard third-row seat. If you are an adult person with at least 165cm or 5,4feet height, you will not feel comfortable at all, and of course, the third seat row of this car is one of the drawbacks of this compact SUV. For children, maybe it doesn’t matter at all, but for adult, hell crap the third-row seat of this car is not better than cheap MPV/SUV cars.

For the second row of the seats, the seats are slide-able, reclines and offers 40/20/40 percent split folding abilities for maximum human cargo flexibility. With the larger size, now you can see a larger cabin with the trunk capacity of 145 liters bigger than the previous version.

Volkswagen CEO Herbert Diess says the second-generation Tiguan uses a modular transverse matrix (MQB) platform. While from the design, more emphasis on sporty impression with the weight of the vehicle is trimmed to 50 kg or 110 pounds.

The Volkswagen deliberately gave a variety of premium accents touch. The use of ambient light in the cabin also provides the atmosphere of the cabin adjustable by the mood of driver and passengers.

In the front row position, there are interior details worth nothing, for example, the armrest of this car literally has no significant function for drivers because the position is too far away from the driver’s arms and it’s not height adjustable.

In the cabin, you will find plenty spaces for bags, gear, wallet and much more. The doors trays can easily hold three bottles. While the center stack has a vast deck to store your smartphone or tablet and also contains a pair of USB ports. The center compartment between the seats is adequately sized for wallets and charging cables but too small for any type of purse or bag.

Features

2018 VW Tiguan equipped with LED taillights, power heated side mirrors and six speakers stereo with 6.5-inch touchscreen plus Bluetooth connectivity. Back to the dashboard and steering, there are a push-button start, dual zone climate control, heated front seats, leather upholstery, a multi-function steering wheel and an eight-inch touchscreen.

This car already has a park assist which is none other can be a driver assistant when parking the vehicle in parallel with automatic.

In addition, this vehicle is also equipped with a view camera area with the function of viewing the surroundings of the vehicle in 360 degrees. To provide convenience, there is also easy open feature to open the rear trunk. By moving the foot under the rear bumper, the trunk will automatically open.

Other important features are also installed on this car such as ambient lighting, rain-sensing wipers, heated steering wheel, memory settings, and a hands-free liftgate. Smartphone integration and remote access are also the important ones.

There is the fantastic new system, overhead view camera when parking in tight places and other helpers such as auto high beams, active blind spot monitor with rear cross traffic alert, and adaptive cruise control make driving safer and easier.

Safety

For the safeties, with no doubt have met the standard safety for latest car productions. This SUV already equipped with a 4-wheel disc with 4-wheel ABS brakes, Anti-theft vehicle alarm system, Brake assist, Child security rear door locks, Driver side front airbag, Hill descent control (4MOTIONonly), Passenger side front airbag and so much more safety features to make driver and passengers feel safe and comfortable.

Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) gave a good score for the 2018 Volkswagen. So, if something bad happens to this car, you don’t need to worry anymore while driving this SUV. For more details, you can see the videos below in this post.

Performance

The 2018 Volkswagen Tiguan is equipped with 2.0 liters engine capacity TSI 4-cylinders, 8-speed automatic transmission with manual mode, front-wheel drive with all-wheel drive option. This car can produce 184 horsepower and 221 pound-feet of torque, the Tiguan delivers just right power. Never feeling too slow with all premium driving precision we’ve come to expect from Volkswagen.

Downshifting, upshifting, in and out of cruise control all very smooth and that makes this car quite pleased and comfortable to drive. However, the steering loses its assist so that’s kind of weird but that is not the common issue of this vehicle.

Other important features to support performance Tight steering, controlled body motions plus ECO and sports modes are also available.

Price

The price of this car is starting from $24,595 in North America and £23,255 in the United Kingdom. Meanwhile for the best type of this SUV is around $37,550. More expensive mean more features.
