This time the Japanese manufacturer (Mitsubishi) offers a new car that carries the concept of medium SUV or Crossover, the car was named Mitsubishi Outlander Sport which comes with a dimension of a moderate SUV car. The 2018 Mitsubishi Outlander is the successor of the previous generation introduced in 2015.

In North America alone, Outlander Sport marketed in 4 different types of ES 2.0, LE 2.0, SE 2.4, and SEL 2.4. The four types offer different features, because in terms of price alone already has a significant difference. The most striking difference is the engine capacity, for ES and LE types, has a 2000cc engine capacity, while for type SE and SEL has a 400cc capacity larger. But in terms of engines, these four types are equally enhanced carrying by Mitsubishi’s MULTI Mitsubishi injection technology.

With the perfect combustion system, automatically will make the engine performance of this car is better than previous generations. Other important features of the 2018 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport are also equipped with a fairly good security system because there already has ABS technology for braking and 7 standard airbags including driver’s knee airbags for safety.

Design and Dimensions

This car has dimensions of 4300 x 1800 x 1625 mm and ground clearance of 195 mm. Body ratios are considered ideal for a middle-class SUV, make this car more resilient when maneuvering through the off-road terrain. The body of this car is quite big and has a distance of 266 mm from front to rear tires, as a result, this car is able to pass through all the steep terrain or a flat track.

On the front, you will see a front grille parallelogram with chrome accents on its lines. This car also has a headlamp with a tapered tip with a bulb of a rounded design including the sign light inside. For the foglamp this SUV is still using a rounded design with additional LED lights on the side. For the bumper itself, this car uses a black dove bumper with a form that looks solid.

On the side, you will see a sign light located in the rearview mirror. For alloy wheels, this car uses the design of the radius of the radius with a shiny white color, also seen the design of the side of the curve look from the front line to the rear door, while for the top hood using black dove color on some types offered, for the tail part itself this car has a bumper design that looks sturdy and large.

Engine Performance

2018 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport has engine DOHC 16 Valve 4 Cylinder engine with engine capacity of 1998cc. There is also MIVEC (Mitsubishi Innovative Valve Timing Electronic Control) technology that makes engine performance more environmentally friendly, and able to optimize engine rotation for more efficient and powerful, but still fuel efficient. In fact, this 1998cc car can generate power of 150 PS at 6,000 RPM, and capable of producing engine torque reaches 4,200 RPM.

With ECI MULTI technology, engine combustion system from 2018 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport feels more environmentally friendly and more fuel efficient. Meanwhile, for the transmission system using acceleration with CVT technology INVECS III with Sports Mode, for manual transmission version, this car equipped with 5-speed. Of course, with this technology makes this car more comfortable when the driver accelerates, because gearshift becomes very easy. This car is also equipped with a fuel tank to accommodate 63 liters or 16.6 gallons.

Suspension and Brake

Good suspension is the most important thing for the convenience of a car. Mitsubishi Outlander Sport has been equipped with MacPherson strut type suspension with a snail-shaped spring and equipped with a stabilizer to keep the suspension feels soft when passing through the broken road. Then, on the rear suspension has been equipped with a Multi-link suspension type with stabilizer features, similar to the front suspension. Armed with both suspensions above, this car seems ready to pass off-road terrain and also damaged roads, and still feels comfortable when driving on the good tarmac conditions.

Next, we turn to the braking sector, the 2018 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport equipped with disc brakes with a diameter of 16 inches. Interestingly, this SUV is also supported by advanced braking systems that rely on two technologies Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) and Brake Assist (BA), so the braking system more optimal and able to reduce the occurrence of accidents.

Features

With prices starting at $20,395, this car should be equipped with many supporting features are also good. One important feature is the safety features of riders and passengers. 2018 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport is equipped with 7 standard airbags including drivers knee airbag. Dual SRS Air Bag for passengers and driver (side of the driver).

On the security features of this car is equipped with an alarm and Immobilizer to minimize theft action. Traction Control Logic (TCL) and Active Stability Control (ASC) that serves as speed and traction limits for safety. As well as Hill Start Assist (HSA) and Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) which serves as a convenience and monitoring of tire conditions.

In the cabin itself, the 2018 Mitsubishi Outlander is equipped with features like 7 “TouchDreen 2DIN DVD, CD, WMA, MP3, USB, AM / FM, Bluetooth® Wireless Technology, Start-Stop Engine Button, Interior Door Handle, Audio Steering Control, and 6 speakers. With these features, of course, this SUV has abundant entertainment features. With the price of $ 20,395, other features are also very useful for driver and passengers.

If you see the rivalry, then 2018 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport will fight with Honda HRV, 2018 Nissan Rogue Sport, 2018 Ford Escape same in the mid-size SUV class. In terms of price and design, this car may not be better than its competitors. But this car has a slightly better feature and performance than its competitors.

Price

In North America, the price for the lowest tye is starting from $20,395. Meanwhile, for the most expensive type, the price is starting from $24,495. Here is the price for all types of 2018 Mitsubishi Outlander.

Drawback

There are advantages there are also shortcomings. The shortcoming of this car is a narrow cabin, like other subcompact cars. In addition, at a glance, the 2018 Outlander Sport interior is like any other luxurious crossover. However, once touched, the material of door-trim, switch button, and other components seem cheap and obsolete.
