Peugeot has just introduced the latest generation 308. This third-generation comes with a series of upgrades from faces to features. One thing to note is the new cabin design. Yep, Peugeot says the 308 carries the latest i-Cockpit with a new level of ergonomics, quality, design, and technology.

The i-Cockpit features are identical to Peugeot’s. It is part of the DNA of the French brand. In the most recent 308, Peugeot did a rework of the i-Cockpit. The uniqueness of the Peugeot 308 design is felt when we enter the cabin, the atmosphere is like driving a concept car. Pretty busy, angular, and futuristic.

For example, on the steering wheel, Peugeot immerses a sensor that can detect the driver’s hand when using the driving aids feature. Ergonomic has a built-in heater (optional), and various function keys such as radio access, media, telephone, and driving aids feature settings.

The manufacturer made the vehicle information display cluster right at eye reach, without being obstructed by the steering wheel. The position is not too high so that the view of the road is also clearly not disturbed. The screen measures 10 inches with integrated full digital technology. Various display modes can be selected by the driver according to driving information needs. The options include; navigation, radio/media, driving aids, energy use, and others so that they can be directly adjusted via the buttons on the steering wheel.

There is one interesting design on the central multimedia screen. It is placed at the bottom of the cabin air conditioning vent, right in the middle of the dashboard. Peugeot mentions this layout to ensure the air is properly circulated. Because it is in the top position and also makes it easier for the driver to access the central multimedia screen.

The new Peugeot i-Cockpit in the 308 is still under the driver-oriented design principle similar to the previous generation. However, the comfort of the front passengers is also considered. The new Peugeot 308 also includes the i-Connect Advanced feature, a very intuitive, interconnected, and modern infotainment system.

As is the trend in modern cars, the distribution of physical buttons is minimized. The majority of functions are controlled centrally via the infotainment system. On the center console, there is no transmission lever. He was changed to a switch to select a transmission plus gives the impression of relief in the cabin. This modern lever is accompanied by a driving mode selector located at the bottom of the center console.

Even so, some physical setting points could still be found. The following is also a separate AC control, only using the touch panel. The accessories are installed with various premium components. Call it wireless charging, LED ambient lighting to a 10 speaker Focal sound system, and electric seats. Also installed the Clean Cabin function to filter out pollution and fine particles while displaying air quality on the main display.

Peugeot tries to present a new era of 308. The appearance has changed completely. The composition of the face makes it look fanged thanks to the strokes of the LED daylight. This is what gives the DNA a sense of similarity to the latest models. The grille looks like it is inspired by the muzzle of the SUV line that looks futuristic. Attached to the emblem “308” on the grille and accompanied by the appearance of the first new logo with a vintage feel of the 1960s.

All variants adopt a slim LED headlamp as standard. Plus the vertical DRL creates the distinctive characteristics of modern Peugeot. On the top trim, the GT and GT Premium types are equipped with the Peugeot Matrix LED Technology feature to increase efficiency and safety. On the buttocks, full LED illumination contains a visual of three nail claws.

Using the EMP2 platform, the 308 successor is equipped with a three-cylinder turbo engine armament. Two levels of output are available from the 1,200 cc combustion chamber. It is capable of pouring 110 or 130 hp via a six-speed manual power supply or a more powerful version of a special eight-speed automatic. Meanwhile, there is also a diesel model sporting a 1,500 cc four-cylinder engine. Ready to generate power up to 130 hp.

The era of environmentally friendly vehicles made the 308 unable to abandon alternative options. The options are two plug-in-hybrid boost options. All are powered by a 12.4 kWh lithium-ion battery with a 3.7 kW or 7.4 kW charger. The electrical boost is the same, coming from the 81 kW electric motor attached to the automatic gearbox.

Being differentiated is the strength of conventional engines. The lowest unit is combined with a gasoline drinker as strong as 150 hp while the type above works with a 180 hp engine. Combined with the electric boost, they are ready to kick 180 hp and 225 hp respectively. As a PHEV, it can run in electric mode with a range of about 58-59 km.
