Brno, Czech Republic: The Czech Republic MotoGP 2020 will never be forgotten by KTM Red Bull rider, Brad Binder. How could he not, he became the fastest rider in the race that took place at the Brno Circuit, Sunday, August 9, 2020.
Binder was very happy because the win was special for him and KTM as well. Binder who is a rookie won his first victory in MotoGP at that race. In addition, he also became the first South African rider to win in MotoGP.
Binder was also the first rider to give victory to KTM in MotoGP. Since KTM appeared in the premier class race in the 2017 season, its best achievement has been the third podium that Binder’s team-mate Pol Espargaro won at the 2018 Valencia MotoGP.
Binder recorded a lot of history at the Brno Circuit. It left him speechless when questioned by reporters after the race. According to Binder, Sunday 9 August 2020 is the best day of his entire life. Binder stated that he had dreamed of this since he was a child.
“To be honest, I have no words. This is the best day of my life. I have dreamed of this since I was a child, now it has become a reality, ”said Binder, on the MotoGP official website.
Binder fought hard to win at the Brno Circuit. Binder who started the race from seventh place was in the front group of riders immediately after the start.
Binder did not immediately take first place. There are two Petronas Yamaha SRT riders, Franco Morbidelli and Fabio Quartararo who control the two leading positions. Morbidelli was first while Quartararo followed him.
As laps grew, Binder was able to overtake several riders in front of him. The 24-year-old passport rider was finally able to get behind Morbidelli. Binder tried hard to overtake Morbidelli but it was not easy to do so.
Binder patiently continues to follow Morbidelli. The opportunity for Binder to pass finally came on lap 13. Morbidelli’s speed gradually decreased as the YZR-M1 tires began to lose their grip.
Binder maximized the opportunity by overtaking Morbidelli so he could lead the race. Until the end of the race, the first place remains the 24-year-old rider. The second place belongs to Morbidelli. Meanwhile, the Reale Avintia rider, Johann Zarco, who started the race from the first place, finished behind Morbidelli.
An additional 25 points from the 2020 Czech Republic MotoGP boosts Binder’s place in the standings. The KTM rider finished fifth with a collection of 28 points. Binder is 31 points behind Petronas Yamaha SRT rider, Fabio Quartararo who is in first place.
