Most people know about the brand name of Daihatsu. This one of the company from Japan is also as famous as other big car company.  We can see that the development of automotive around the world is very sophisticated and increase the newest production at this time. Daihatsu Motor Co., Ltd. is the oldest car company in Japan that was known for the small size cars (compact). The company itself is based in Ikeda which is part of Osaka Prefecture. With the new slogan “We Do Compact”, the oldest products of this company which was the most well-known “Taft”, began to be discontinued in 2002.

Daihatsu was reshaped in 1951 as a successor of Hatsudoki Co., Ltd. and later, in the 1960s began exporting cars to Europe. Although the company’s car sales were not so good, it still conducted the export. Daihatsu is a company that has a long history which established for more than 100 years by the establishment of Hatsudoki Seizo Co., Ltd. in 1907. The rename of Hatsudoki Seizo Corp. became Daihatsu Motor Co., Ltd. occurred in 1951. This is certainly made this automotive company became the earliest established in Japan.

Daihatsu Company is a member of UFJ Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group (MUFJ) Keiretsu. From the change of name which became Daihatsu in 1951, that era was the beginning of this company to come to Europe. There was Daihatsu car in various countries of Europe. Based on the slogan, the development of Daihatsu increased and began to consolidate the trace as a small car manufacturer and a variety of off-road cars.

However, the Daihatsu car manufacturer had to stop for exporting to Europe in 2013. It made the company suffered a lot of losses. At that time, Yen exchange rate continues to strengthen so that reduced the benefits of Daihatsu’ company. In addition, the car sales from Daihatsu also decreased and continued to have a very significant decline since 2007. Even a year before, the Daihatsu’ company began to close the subsidiary which was one of Daihatsu’s operations in Australia

The golden era of this company was in 1967, Daihatsu became a company which got a very rapid sales increase. This company has established a relationship with the same automotive company in Japan, Toyota Motor Corporation Co., Ltd

. Then Toyota made Daihatsu as one of the subsidiaries in 1999. Later on, Daihatsu invested the budget for constructing factories in several countries in Asia. And in 2016, Toyota Motor Corporation declared the whole stocks of Daihatsu’s company has been bought by Toyota then it means Daihatsu has been full as subsidiaries of Toyota Corporation.

For the logo of Daihatsu which became a symbol of this company is a prefix of the initial company itself, as well as other companies such as Toyota, Suzuki or Lexus, the logo of this company,  was formed from the word Da which means big and O is the first letter of the word Saka and Hatsu word that it means first. The word Da o Hatsu was then changed into Da I Hatsu.

The logo of the company Daihatsu itself was one of the logos from the simplest car product in the world. Even till this day, the company has absolutely no interest to replace the logo with a new logo. One of the car product from Daihatsu’s is Daihatsu Ayla. But the car with the name “Ayla” which are widely marketed in Indonesia is not at all using the logo of Daihatsu. Ayla is Daihatsu’s car that becomes LCGC car (Low Cost and Green Car). For the product, of course, this company has produced various kinds of the car such as Xenia, Terios, Feroza, Valera, and many more.

Generally, for the quality and the cost, the products of Daihatsu are affordable for the people who have the standard level needed. Cheap doesn’t mean the product is not good because Daihatsu products are recommended for people in various level who want to have the simple car. No wonder that Daihatsu products are acceptable in the developing country such as Asian and others country because this is one of the products for society. So, if you are interested in this brand, you can see some best car of Daihatsu.
