Brno, Czech Republic: Petronas Yamaha SRT Team rider, Franco Morbidelli, achieved great success at the Czech Republic MotoGP 2020. He won his first podium in MotoGP since making his debut in 2018.

This success made Morbidelli feel immense joy. He also admitted that he only remembered a name; Valentino Rossi when he successfully completed the 2020 Czech Republic MotoGP race in second place.

Therefore, after the race was over, Morbidelli looked for the figure of The Doctor, the nickname Rossi, and just wanted to hug Rossi. Because, as is known, Rossi is a mentor for Morbidelli at the VR46 Academy.

Franco Morbidelli and his First Podium

Morbidelli wanted to come to Rossi because he wanted to thank his mentor. He feels that his success in reaching the podium cannot be separated from the figure of Rossi who has contributed greatly to his career in motorbike racing.

“I’m here (on the podium) especially because of him; because he believed in me when I was nothing,” said Morbidelli, quoting from Crash on Monday, August 10, 2020.

“I know it’s strange because we race against each other, but when the race is over, he is my best friend,” added the 25-year-old rider.

“He’s like an uncle or an older brother, so after the race, I just wanted to hug him and the academy riders. It was an extraordinary moment, “said the Italian rider.

Finally sure enough, after the race was over, he immediately approached Rossi and hugged him. He felt immense joy and overflowed with Rossi. VR46 also welcomed his student with great joy.

In this race, Morbidelli actually almost won the Czech Republic MotoGP. Because he had led the race and appeared convincing. Unfortunately, he failed to maintain that position.

Meanwhile, Rossi himself got pretty good results. Although in the end failed to reach the podium, the 41-year-old rider managed to finish the race in fifth place.
