Doha, Qatar: Tech3 racer Hafiz Syahrin admits that he is pleased with the positive results he received in his debut race on the main class at the Losail Circuit, Qatar on Sunday, March 18th, 2018. In the race, Syahrin successfully finished on 14th place and bagged two points in the series opener.
Syahrin journey to MotoGP is not as easy as imagined. The Malaysian rider has only one month of preparation with Tech3 to start the new season.
At that time Syahrin was chosen to be the driver who replaced Jonas Folger for his ability to ride a motorcycle racing. In addition, he also often get strong motivation and support from the entire team including the boss, Herve Poncharal.
“I have a good boss, Herve Poncharal is very friendly and always says something funny. This certainly helps me not to feel stressed or nervous. He said to me ‘Enjoy, do not be stress. It’s just your first race, so try to understand everything and do not be too nervous, “explained Syahrin, reports from Crash, Friday, March 23th, 2019.
“I consider this one to be the one of the motivation and that is why I can arrive at this point. I thank him so much. I thought maybe I would be a little scared, but when the light went out, suddenly my confidence was there. I feel comfortable with the control when the race starts. This is easier than Moto2. I made a good start and not bad, just a little wheelie, “he said.
“I also experienced some fear during the race. I was almost touching the tires of Jorge Lorenzo. I’m so close to the crash, luckily I can save my bike. I also passed Scot Redding and some other racers. Then I stayed in the 14th position for a long time. But in the middle of the race I tried to change my electronic settings to save the rear tire, “he finished.
