Aalst, Belgium: Various incidents that occurred in the second series of MotoGP 2018 at the Circuit Termas de Rio Hondo, Argentina, eventually dragged the organizers to review the rules applied. These include penalties that deserve to be given to racers who violate the rules.

As is known, at the race in Argentina, the Repsol Honda rider, Marc Marquez, received two different penalties. The first penalty is Marquez penalized and must enter the pit lane during the race because he defies the race director orders while on the grid. While the second penalty is Marquez get additional 30 seconds into the racing time for dropping the Movistar Yamaha racer, Valentino Rossi.

Actually, the second penalty obtained Marquez was not separated from the first penalty he lived. Because he must enter the pit lane, Marquez was undergoing a reckless race in order to catch up with other racers in front of him, and then eventually hit the Rossi’s motorcycle and make Valentino Rossi fell.

Therefore, MotoGP racing legend, Kevin Schwantz, judge that penalty by entering the pit lane when the race is not something appropriate. According to him, it will actually disrupt the mind of the driver who was punished. The reason, because of the punishment, the racer will do everything possible to get back to the front position, and in the end riding with recklessly, which endanger other racers.

Schwantz much more agrees if the penalty is only the addition of time in the racer’s time race. According to him, it is safer, and the racer who committed the offense was guaranteed a deterrent. As happened to Marquez, although he finished fifth in the 2018 MotoGP Argentina, because it took an additional 30 seconds, then his position declined to 18th place.

“Maybe, we do not need to pass a penalty and keep going. Perhaps, they only get an additional 30 or 60 seconds in their race time record. Entering pit stop penalty is not needed, because whoever racers who see the recipients become angry and mad, the other racers can be hit, “said Schwantz, quotes from Motorsport.

“No one needs to worry about their safety again when the race. This is not a physical contact sport, and the rider should be looking behind his shoulder for fear of being hit, not worrying about being hit, “Schwantz finished.
