Mini is known as a manufacturer that has a unique product line. For example, last year, just launched its first electric car, the Mini Cooper SE.
Apparently, Mini’s move to strengthen its position in the global automotive market does not stop there. Quoting from Motoring.com.au, the British manufacturer is planning to bring the middle-engined supercar.
Indeed, so far the Mini cars under the BMW Group always use the front-wheel-drive (FWD) engine type. Some cars also have all-wheel drive (AWD) variants.
“But, if we give more time and resources, our engineers are able to come in a middle-engined car,” said Andreas Lampka, the Head of Communications Mini.
Based on Concept Car?
It could be, this MINI middle-engined supercar is a production version of the Mini Superleggera Concept which had appeared at the Villa d’Este Concorso 2014 event. But, this speculation was immediately ignored by Lampka.
“Let’s see how Mini develops it. Because yes, this is an exciting time for Mini. We believe we will make the right decision and on the other hand, we will also challenge other brands,” he added.
