Doha, Qatar: According to Autosport media, Wednesday, March 21st, 2018, Ducati Corse Team rider Andrea Dovizioso has been in discussions with Repsol Honda and Suzuki Ecstar. This is done because there is no clarity for the future of the drivers nicknamed The Little Dragon in MotoGP 2019.
The Italian passport rider joined with Ducati from Yamaha Tech3 in 2013. Dovizioso is estimated to receive 2 million Euro per year for his salary in Ducati. Meanwhile, his teammate, Jorge Lorenzo reportedly get salary 12 million Euro per year when Ducati recruited him.
By outperforming Lorenzo in terms of achievements over the past season, Dovizioso wants Ducati to convince him by giving him a better offer. So, he will be on the team for a longer period.
What’s more, The Little Dragon has saved Ducati in the 2018 MotoGP premiere series, which took place at Losail Circuit, Qatar, last weekend. He managed to finish the finish in the first position in the race. Meanwhile, his teammate, Lorenzo could not finish in the race because of he had an accident. Lorenzo explains that
As proclaimed Autosport, they get information from people closest to Dovizioso who mentioned that The Little Dragon wanted to be appreciated by Ducati. He will not accept the excuse like the amount of money they paid to his teammates.
If Dovizioso does not want to renew his contract with Ducati, then another possibility that owned 31-year-old racer is to join the Repsol Honda or Suzuki Ecstar next season. The reason, Dovizioso reportedly has been in talks with both teams.
Only Repsol Honda and Suzuki Ecstar that are expected to recruit Dovizioso. The reason, Movistar Yamaha has renewed contracts with both riders; Valentino Rossi and Maverick Vinales.
Dovizioso’s biggest possibility is actually joining Repsol Honda. Understandably, in the past, he had a relationship with the Japanese manufacturer’s team from the 2009-2011 season. The Italian rider was also expected to replace Dani Pedrosa.
