Italian racer Andrea Dovizioso is on leave from racing in MotoGP. But he was not unemployed, because he was going to try out the latest Aprilia motorbike.
Launching Crash.net, Dovizioso will conduct one Aprilia RS-GP trial in Jerez on April 12-14. Aprilia also hopes that there will be a formal agreement with the 34-year-old rider.
The man who is often called Dovi was quite enthusiastic about this invitation. He hopes that his contribution can help Aprilia and doesn’t forget to thank him for the opportunity he has been given.
“I am pleased with Aprilia’s interest and when we talked about the possibility of carrying out this test, I happily accepted the invitation to be able to ride the MotoGP bike again and stay in top form, giving my feedback to the engineers,”
“I want to thank Aprilia Racing for this opportunity,”

Meanwhile, Aprilia Racing boss Massimo Rivola was quite happy to invite Dovi to the test. In fact, he admitted that Dovi’s contribution was quite important, even though it was only one trial.
“It is great to invite Andrea. The days at Jerez will only be an opportunity to get to know each other better, also on the track,”
“We are very aware of all of Andrea’s qualities and his contribution will be important, even for one test,”

Previously, Aprilia had tried hard to make Dovi her racer. But he was not sure and chose to take a sabbatical. Although he still hopes to return to MotoGP if offered a competitive bike in 2022.
Finally, Aprilia made her choice to Lorenzo Savadori. The racer will be Aleix Espargaro’s teammate with Aprilia in MotoGP 2021.
